A SYSTEMATIC DISPOSAL SITE IS AN INTEGRAL PART OF IMPROVING ENVIRONMENTAL CONSERVATION. LANDFILLS ARE OFTEN THE MOST COST-EFFICIENT WAY TO DISPOSE OF WASTE.

There are four (4) critical elements in a secure landfill: a bottom liner, a leachate collection system, a cover and the natural hydro-geologic setting. The natural setting can be selected to minimise the possibility of wastes escaping to groundwater beneath a landfill. The three (3) other elements must be engineered.

With more than 15 years of experience in managing several disposal sites and landfills, DHES is very mindful of the effects of pollution from inefficient disposal methods.
